SEVERNA PARK JAYCEES

 ABOUT US

We are an organization of individuals aged 21-40 who are involved in leadership, individual, and community development. We are involved in community activities such as park cleanups, holiday meals, Easter egg hunts, holiday tree lighting, 4th of July festival, and sponsorship of Boy Scout Troop 918. As a leadership development organization we are involved in project management training, public relations, and fundraiser training. We also do fun things such as bowling, happy hours, social events, and more. We have been an active participant in the Greater Severna Park communities since 1963. We meet the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Severna Park Jaycee Community Center at Kinder Farm Park, Millersville at 6:15 PM. This organization is also known as the Severna Park Junior Chamber, is a member of the Maryland Jaycees, the United State Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International.

OUR VISION

To be the organization of choice for people aged 21 and 40 throughout the greater Severna Park area, the state of Maryland, and the United States. We desire to stand out among the other community and civic groups in that we are special in the leadership training and opportunities we provide our members.

OUR MISSION

We the members of the Severna Park Jaycees believe that we have a responsibility to the community in which we live. As volunteers, we conduct projects that deliver needed services to people and involve the support of the Greater Severna Park Community at large. As an organization, we gladly partner with other like- minded businesses, churches, civic groups, and other nonprofit organizations. We are unique among organized volunteer clubs because we emphasize the development of our members as individuals in the areas of personal skills, leadership activities, civic consciousness, social and cultural diversity, networking, and the betterment of family life. We are a nonprofit organization, continually seeking young people from all walks of life, who desire to make a difference in their community and in themselves as individuals.

TO BE A JAYCEE MEANS…

                        Ability to Meet New People...
As a Jaycee, you can develop business contacts and foster new friendships
with others who share similar goals and interests as yourself. The Jaycees
also offer a variety of social opportunities across Maryland, the nation, and
                      internationally.

                   Career Advancement...
Being a Jaycee implies to your employer(s) and others that you are ambitious
and enthusiastic, ready to tackle any job and assume any responsibility. As a
Jaycee, you assume responsibilities usually untrusted to older more experienced people.
When advancement opportunities arise, you will  be prepared for them.

Respond to the Changing Needs of Your Community...
The Jaycees plan and conduct many projects each year both locally and  across the
state based on ideas from local members and the community. Jaycees around the
state are making their respective communities a better place to live.

"In your hands lies the destiny of a great organization.
Let us build it to national recognition.
Let us organize it in the interest of young men for a greater America.
Let us not fail in this task."
                                      Henry Giessenbier, Jr. Founder 1892-1935
